On February 28th – March 1st, Troop 325 grabbed our snowshoes and headed to French Gulch just outside of Burke, Idaho, to camp in snow caves. The weather was phenomenal . . . sunshine, no wind or storms, great snow. When we got to the trail head, we could see rocks peeking out above French Gulch so we decided to hike up Humbolt Gulch to the east. Part way up Humbolt, we chose to go off the trail and followed a creek bed until we found enough snow. There was only about 5 feet of snow so it was a challenge to dig snow caves . . . but everyone succeeded. Here are some pictures of the patrols in their snow "condos". Great fun!!
